Marc Schulze's cumulative dissertation was supervised by Jana Kleibert at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. It is an outstanding academic work that draws upon the examples of Malaysia and Singapore to show how the regulation of transnational higher education programs is constantly being renegotiated at several levels between universities and nation states. The candidate points out that these dynamics take place in between the marketisation of education, the transnational restructuring of universities and projects for regional economic transformation.
Marc Schulze studied geography and political science at the universities of Freiburg, Sheffield and Strasbourg. He then worked as a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space (IRS) in Erkner, where he wrote his dissertation in the Leibniz Junior Research Group ‘TRANSEDU - Constructing Transnational Spaces of Higher Education’.
