Kerstin J. Schäfer was awarded the Peter Meusburger Doctoral Prize ‘Geography and Knowledge’ on December 3, 2021. The award ceremony took place with a small group of former students and colleagues of Peter Meusburger in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim.
The cumulative dissertation by Kerstin J. Schäfer entitled "Competitiveness through R&D internationalization - patent and interview data based studies on a latecomer in the telecommunications industry" was supervised by Ingo Liefner at Leibniz University Hannover. In her excellent research work the candidate traces back how Huawei Technologies, as a latecomer, has succeeded in achieving a leading position in the global telecommunications industry.
Kerstin J. Schäfer’s academic CV is shaped by several international study and research stays. Her work has been supported by the Volkswagen Foundation, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European Union and other programs.
